‘Cause it rained the day I planned to paint, I decided to simply go for a walk without the weight of gear on my back. It was the misty kind of rain that just hung around relieving me of the pressure to get things done and allowing me to wander.
“Around the Bend” is the painting I created that evening. During my hike, the mist had revealed amazing, rich colors which I otherwise would have been blind to from the sun casting shadows in the woods. With just a small window of time left, and being filled with delight from my silent retreat, my painting flowed with the aliveness and freshness that only comes from overflow.
Have you had moments like this? I've had my plans to “get things done” turn into some surfing of the web or some sitting in the living room with Ginny, Cedar and Mary Ann drinking tea sprinkled in with a few moments of “I should do this or that ... maybe get some tax stuff done." Also, there is the delight of a silent retreat within where I start to feel overflow again. As the present moment fills me, I look forward with eagerness to the next thing around the bend.
